Year 6 Running Club

Year 6 Running Club is on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30pm with Mr Leech.

Running Club aims to increase stamina and fitness in a fun way, ranging from longer distances focusing on pacing to shorter distances to work on speed. 

Summer 2: This half term has so far been affected by the weather (our first indoor sessions since the club began - that's British summer for you!). However, the club has still been going strong and we acquired the Lower School Hall to continue with our fantastic progress. 

 

So far, I have seen huge improvements in fitness and stamina from those children attending. To continue, whilst indoors we all took part in a Bleep Test on consecutive weeks. Everyone did a great job in the first week and in the second, everyone improved their level considerably! Well done to all for superb effort.

Week 3: Looking at different styles of running

 

Less distance was covered in week 3 as there was more of a focus on different running styles and strategies to improve fitness. Children looked at sprint methods and relays to allow more rest time and working at higher intensity for short periods.
