This month's value is co-operation

Our well-being theme this half-term is Connecting with Others

 29th September 2023

Dear parents & carers,

Next week we will launch Black History Month. The suggestion to make more of this annual event came from our School Council. We are delighted that this is a child-led initiative. And we have carefully planned themes for each group to celebrate diversity and world history.  It is going to be a great month.

We will also be celebrating National Poetry Day and Teacher Appreciation Day on Thursday.

The following week we will be collecting for the Luton Food Bank as part of Harvest Festival.  Friday 13th October will be a non-uniform day in return for food contributions. Details of what to donate are below. Thank you in advance.

A reminder that Parent Teacher Conferences will take place on Monday 16th and Wednesday 18th October.  These will take place virtually via School Cloud. Details of how to book an appointment will be sent out next week.  PTCs will be face - to - face in March.

Don't forget our FOBS (PTA) AGM on Tuesday (see below). If you cannot attend at this time but would like to be involved please email us: FOBS@bushmeadprimaryschool.co.uk

Have a lovely weekend,

Joanne Travi

Sulwe by Lupita Nyong’o

From Academy Award–winning actress Lupita Nyong’o comes a powerful, moving picture book about colorism, self-esteem, and learning that true beauty comes from within. Sulwe's skin is the colour of midnight. She's darker than everyone in her family, and everyone at school. All she wants is to be beautiful and bright, like her mother and sister. Then a magical journey through the night sky opens her eyes.
