This month's value is Happiness

Our well-being theme this half-term is Being Active

30th June 2023

Dear parents & carers,

We have had a fantastic year! Wonderful levels of attainment and achievement and excellent feedback from Ofsted. A great year.

This week we have thoroughly enjoyed a Yr 6 & Yr 2 production. The children performed beautifully. All part of our commitment to a broad and balanced curriculum for all our children.

A farewell to our Yr 6 children, we are so proud of their achievements. Their final assembly was full joy and a real celebration. We wish them well in at their new school.

We also bid farewell to some staff members this year. Mrs Riley, Miss Kelly, Mrs Laidlaw, Mrs Richardson and Miss Glenister, Mrs Morris, Mrs Gooding, Mrs Jarvis, Miss Giles, Miss Reid and Mrs Khalil. Thank you for your hard work and commitment to our students. We will you well in your new endeavours.

We have a number of new staff that we look forward to welcoming and introducing you to in September.

Artwork from each year group will be displayed at Wardown Museum from the end of next week. Some will be up on the walls and some put in the glass tables in the café. There is a free mouse trial that children can enjoy there too. Hopefully encourage children to look around the museum which will support our Artsmark journey.

Have a wonderful summer, and we look forward to seeing you all on MONDAY 4th SEPTEMBER.

Kind regards,

Joanne Travi

Headteacher

The Alex Miller Award is our most prestigious award of the year. It goes to an exceptional child that has stood out for their work ethic, achievement and progress.  This year's recipients are:

Reception - Hannah S - In addition to her wonderful enthusiasm, hard work and positivity Hannah brings to everything she does, she is also incredibly kind, thoughtful and encouraging to her friends. We are all incredibly proud of Hannah.

Yr 1 - Marley - Is so positive and always has a smile on his face and makes others smile too! He's just like a sponge soaking up all that is taught and as a result has made great progress.

Yr 2 Sahila Rose - Always demonstrating happiness and a positive attitude. Always giving her best and trying so hard even when faced with challenges.

Yr 3 Kenzo - is an all round exception pupil. Kenzo always works hard, is kind and polite. He encapsulates the school values and his work ethic means great achievements.

Yr 4 Alice H- for making exceptional progress and for being an inspiration to all she meets. Alice has left a remarkable, long-lasting mark on our year group and on our school. We wish all the very best for the future.

Yr 5 Sienna G - Consistently working to the best of her ability. Making fantastic progress this year. Achieving all of this when she's also had to overcome challenges.

Yr 6 Arsene M - Exceptional all round hard work and achievement, from sports, to music, academic results and a kind polite person. We know you will have amazing success at your new school.

Goodbye Bushmead

We’re at the end of the school year, and for Year 6 that means that these few days are their (and our) last days here at primary school. There are also teachers here that are leaving this school, so this week’s final newsletter article from us (Kyenaat, Sophia, Anah and Greta) will be about people’s goodbyes and people’s new chapter of their lives.

Interviews:

Ayra Ahmed (6 Darwin):

Q: How are you feeling about leaving Bushmead?

A: I don’t wanna go and I’d rather redo all my years of Bushmead than go to high school.

Q: Is there anything you’d like to say as a final goodbye?

A: I have made many fun memories at Bushmead and I’ll miss you. Goodbye.

Interview with Sara Khan (6 Somerville):

Q: How are you feeling about leaving Bushmead?

A: Sad but also happy.

Q: Is there anything you’d like to say as a final goodbye?

A: Goodbye Bushmead. I will miss you. Especially as I am going to a private school and I’m not with any of my friends. It was fun while it lasted.

Interview with Sarah Khan (6 Darwin):

Q: How are you feeling about leaving Bushmead?

A:I feel a mix of emotions. I feel sad but I guess I’m excited to go to high school.

Q: Is there anything you’d like to say as a final goodbye?

A: Thank you to all my friends and teachers for giving me an amazing time at primary school.

Interview with Miss Kelly:

Q: How are you feeling about leaving Bushmead?

A: Really sad because I have some lovely colleagues here.

Q: Is there anything you’d like to say as a final goodbye?

A: I’ve really enjoyed working here and I hope to be back one day.

Interview with Miss Glenister:

Q: How are you feeling about leaving Bushmead?

A: Sad and I’m gonna miss everyone because I’ve enjoyed my time with all the students here. It’s been fun, but I’m happy to be on my next adventure.

Q: Is there anything you’d like to say as a final goodbye?

A: Thank you to everyone at Bushmead for making me feel welcome. I’ve had a lot of fun and I’ve learnt a lot. Good luck and best wishes for the future to everyone at Bushmead primary school. It has been an honour working with you all.

Now we are coming to the end of our final article, we thought the four of us would like to say our final goodbyes to Bushmead.

Message from Anah Hussain (6 Darwin):

Goodbye, Bushmead. I have been with you since reception and it hurts to leave and start a new chapter of my life but we have to, so goodbye. You’ve been the best school and I will miss you.

Message from Greta Uzkurnis (6 Curie):

I am extremely sad that I have to leave this school. I have been in this school since reception and I have loved it. I can’t wait to go to highschool though, so I can make new friends and learn new things. I have really enjoyed my time here, and I hope other Year 6s cope as well as we did.

Message from Kyenaat Khan (6 Darwin):

I remember when I first came here in Year 2: I nearly cried because of how nervous I was. But then my teacher Mrs Bower introduced me to all of my lovely Year 2 classmates, and I started to get on and enjoy the year. Then there was Covid, which ruined Year 3 and 4 for me, but still I enjoyed all of it. Year 5 was amazing, too. And Year 6 was absolutely wonderful. I tear up at the thought of leaving primary school, but I am now accepting that going to highschool is part of life and I’ll probably get used to it. This school is a big part of me, so goodbye, Bushmead. I will miss you dearly.

Message from Sophia Hussain (6 Turing):

Goodbye Bushmead. Throughout your time here, I have had loads of fond memories as I worked my way through this wonderful school. I would relive it again if I could, but it’s time for me to move on and start another chapter of my life.
