This month's value is Kindness

Our well-being theme this half-term is Being Active

30th June 2023

Dear parents & carers,

Our Ofsted report has arrived and will be sent via parentmail for you to read.  We are absolutely delighted with the feedback we received during the process and the final report.

As you can imagine the Ofsted process is rigorous and thorough. They spoke to a random selection of children and almost all the staff, they followed lines of enquiry from the parent survey and spoke to Governors, it really was a case of no stone unturned. And we believe that their report aligns with our self-evaluation.

Schools are always on a journey, we are constantly looking at ways we can improve to ensure the best quality education for the children in our care. We are so pleased that Ofsted recognised how fantastic our children are and the ambitions our team has for the school. To have external validation that we are doing a great job is wonderful.

NEU Industrial Action - all classes will be open on Wednesday 5th July, Yr 2 will be closed on Friday 7th July.

We are open to the Yr 6 children whose transition days to Yr 7 have been postponed.

We have an amazing few weeks of events, including Arts Week, Bushmead Proms, Sing Spectacular this week. Sports Days follow. We have productions from Yr 2 & Yr 6 and a whole host of trips. Children in Yrs R - 5 will meet their new teacher on the 14th July and reports will also go home via parentmail that evening.

Learning and lessons will continue to the end of the last week!

Kind regards,

Joanne Travi

Headteacher

Upcoming events

Students here at Bushmead Primary School are approaching the end of another excellent, eventful year, and we as a school are aware of how tiring lessons can seem for some children. Taking that into consideration, we think that it is reasonable to reward children with trips and treats to give them time to release any stress they have been withholding. The list below indicates some of the occasions that are planned for students.

  • Arts week - Starts from 3rd July and ends on 7th July.
  • Bushmead proms - Two daytime performances for children on 5th July.
  • FOBS summer disco - Disco on 6th July.
  • Sports days - 11th of July - 12 of July
  • Year 6 end of year trip - 12th July bowling and arcade.
  • FOBS summer raffle- A fair that takes place in the Key stage 2 playground and starts as soon as school is over.
  • Reports - 14th July children will receive their end of year report which shows how they are doing in school and lessons.
  • Year 6 BBQ - The BBQ will take place on 17th July.
  • Year 6 water fight - A water fight on 20th July.
  • Last day of term - The last day of term on the 21st July.

We are interviewing Year 5s and Year 6s about these events.

Here are messages from the Year 5 and 6 Netball Team:

Being a part of the Netball team is something I will never forget. Miss Laidlaw made most of us start training four years ago, and we have worked really hard on our shooting, passing and defending. Miss Laidlaw helped to inspire us to be better netballers and some of us have joined teams outside of school. We are a division one school and are almost undefeated in the Luton area! It's really sad to be leaving Bushmead, but we are all looking forward to joining our high school netball teams and know that the Year 5's will make us proud!

The Year 6 girls.

We are all looking forward to next year, especially the tournaments and matches. It has been really fun joining the netball team with year 6 and representing the school. Even though Miss Laidlaw is leaving, I'm sure she will come back and watch some of our games next year! Next year, we are going to work hard on our shooting and passing.

The Year 5 girls.
