This month's value is Appreciation

Our well-being theme this half-term is Learn Something New

20th December 2024

Dear parents & carers,

A huge thank you for all your support this term. We have had a plethora of activities that we need your help with, whether it be reading at home with your child, contributions to trips and experiences, volunteering to help at events, dress-up days and charity donations - we couldn't do it without you.  These are in addition to our curriculum and after and preschool clubs.

Here are additional events:

  • Black History Month

  • Anti-bullying Week
  • Children in Need
  • Governors' Day

We are very proud of the progress that the children have made this term.

A reminder that from January we will be switching from ParentMail to the My Child at School App (MCAS).  Please make sure you have this downloaded onto your device.

I am delighted to announce that Bushmead Nursery will be opening next term.  This is an exciting development for our school. It is great for the children that come to Bushmead and also for our community.  If you would like to find out more, please see the information on our website: NURSERY

We will see the children on Tuesday 7th January.

I wish a Merry Christmas to those celebrating and a wonderful New Year to you all.

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers who support the school via FOBS!  The Christmas Discos and Shop have been great this year, and we couldn't have done it without your help.

Some excellent advice as many receive new devices at Christmas.

School Council

This term, we fundraised for several organisations. The amounts raised for each cause are as follows:

  • Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal: £1,072.58
  • Children in Need: £576
  • Luton Food Bank: 1,468 items

We are proud to announce that we have been acknowledged as the Luton school that collected the most items for the food bank during Harvest. Here are some of our councillors with the trophy we received.

As always, we thank our families and community for their generous donations.

Mrs Gray

Recently, some members of the School Council were invited to attend the Luton Child Friendly School Council Conference at the University of Bedfordshire. On the day, the children had the opportunity to work with pupils from other schools to share their thoughts and opinions on the positives of living in Luton and their hopes for the future of the town. Their views will help to inform future plans and decisions of Luton Borough Council. Thank you to the children for their contributions.

The Year 6 Football Team took part in the EFL Kids Cup at Power League, Stopsley. They played 7 group games, winning 5 of these (and narrowly losing their other 2 games). The team played some fantastic football in all of their games, finishing 3rd in their group, which led to them qualifying for the quarter-finals of the competition. Unfortunately, they came up against a strong Stopsley team who progressed to the semi-finals. A huge well done to the team, with some excellent wins during the day.
