This month's value is integrity.

Our well-being theme this half-term is Connecting with Others.

13th October 2023

Dear parents & carers,

Some very exciting news: Mr Read has been appointed as headteacher of a primary school in Bristol and will be leaving Bushmead (after almost 17 years) at the end of this term.  I know you will join me in congratulating him on his well-deserved appointment. He has made an immense contribution to our school and community. He will be missed but we are utterly delighted for him.

Many of our Yr 6 children attended a residential at Kingswood this week. Residentials are such an important experience for children and they had a brilliant time.  Thank you to our team that gave up their own time to take the children.  See pictures below.

School Cloud PTCs - 80% of our parents have made an appointment. We would love it to be 100%!  If you haven't booked a time for Monday or Wednesday next week, please do so.  If you have any issues, please contact the school office.

Thank you to everyone that donated to Luton Foodbank!  As always, our Bushmead community is very generous. We hope our children also learn about the value of giving as well as breaking down stereotypes of those that receive help.  A huge thank you to our school council for sorting out the donations.

We had quite a few children below on the playground without an adult today, before 8.25am. Please ensure that your children are supervised. Many thanks.

A reminder that next week school is closed on Friday for Teacher Training.  All staff will be undertaking Safeguarding Training.

Have a lovely weekend.

Joanne Travi

Headteacher

In keeping with Black History Month, our recommended book this week is I am Enough by Grace Byers - as read in assembly.

`This gorgeous, lyrical ode to loving who you are, respecting others, and being kind to one another comes from actor and activist Grace Byers and talented newcomer artist Keturah A. Bobo.`

Year 2 went to Shuttleworth!  They had an amazing time. The staff at the museum were super impressed by our pupils' behaviour and manners.
