Dear parents & carers,
KS2 SATs have taken place this week. We couldn't be prouder of all the pupils for their hard work. The tests are hard - they would challenge many of adults! They are a snapshot of where the children are in reading and maths. It can be stressful for the children, no matter what we say! Their `stress` is a testament to them caring about how they do at school. And they are complete and over. WELL DONE.
Thank you to our brilliant Yr 6 team, Mr Read, Ms Pugh, Mrs Richardson, Ms Ahmed, Mrs Ratcliffe, Ms Robinson, Ms Keeling and Mrs Wilson for their dedication to Yr 6. You have all done an amazing job preparing our pupils for this week and beyond.
The work does not stop in Yr 6. We continue to teach all the subjects for the rest of the term to prepare them for secondary school, and they still have their writing assessment work to complete. We have nine weeks of learning (and some fun) to go!
KS1 SATs (Yr 2) will take place over the next two weeks. The children are relatively (blissfully) unaware that statutory testing will take place. Please help us keep it that way. Many thanks.
As you know Bushmead is starting its own after school facility, to be known as Twilight Club, on the 6th June (Monday 5th is a training day). We are delighted that Mrs Cox & Mrs Barlow, current Bushmead staff, will be leading Twilight, ably support by Ms Reid, Ms Jones and Mrs Chaudhuri. Our experienced team can't wait to get started. We will be offering a wide range of fun activities and an opportunity to complete homework in a safe and stimulating environment. For further details please see the Information Pack on our website. If you would like a place, please contact our school office - office@bushmeadprimaryschool.co.uk
We have an increasing number of children being dropped off very early. Unless children are in Breakfast Club or a before school activity, an adult should be with their child until 8.40 when the doors open.
Reception (EYFS) and KS1 children should always be escorted into and collected from the playground. Our 4 to 7-year-olds should not walk in or leave the school with an older sibling; our expectation is that an adult supports our youngest children.
Our value for May is resilience. Resilience is such an important trait. In assembly today we talked about the 10 ways we can be more resilient. Below is the same guide for parents. I hope it is useful. Here are some ideas for books that focus on resilience: https://schoolreadinglist.co.uk/books-for-topics/resilience/
It is Walk to School Week next week.... can you help make difference? It helps with our physical and mental health, it is great for the environment.... and it helps with parking too.
Outdoor Learning Day will take place on Friday 19th May, please see details below from Mrs Toyer. Thank you in advance for your support.
Kind regards,
Joanne Travi
