Outside Play and Learning
During the holidays, we were very lucky to have a team of people in to renovate some of our outside areas. Through the volunteering service at Luton Borough Council we had 40+ colleagues from Tui come in and paint the fences, benches and woodwork on our gazebos. They even weeded our Year 1 area and cut back the overgrown weeds near the conservation area by to the pond.
Through one of our Friends of Bushmead (Charlotte Prickett), we also received some great help from Volker Highways who sent us line painters and other colleagues who applied tarmac to some of our pot holes. They even donated all the paint that we need free of charge!
This is the beginning of our work on our outside area, but I think you would agree that with the help of Luton Borough Council, Tui and Volker we have made a great start!
Special thanks to Christine Smith and Tara Turk from LBC Volunteering Service, Steve Smith and the team from Volker Highways, Kelly and her team from Tui and our very own Site Agent Sue Shaw for helping me to co-ordinate everything.
As you can see the children are really benefiting from this work!
